The third annual NASMD Boot Camp was held in Washington, DC in May 2010. CHCS collaborated with NASMD on this one-day program that brought participants from more than 25 states together to discuss opportunities and challenges facing new Medicaid directors and their senior staffs. Selected presentations are below:
 

The Center for Health Care Strategies in conjunction with the National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD) conducted an intensive one-day boot camp at the annual NASMD spring meeting. The training session targeted at new Medicaid directors and senior staff drew more than 50 participants from across the country (both in-person and via iLinc). The boot camp, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through the Medicaid Leadership Institute, engaged participants with expert faculty in the following sessions and discussions: 

The inaugural class of Medicaid Leadership Insititue Fellows gathered in Princeton, NJ for their first intensive in-person meeting on September 13-16, 2009. Among the expert faculty presenting at the meeting was Christina Paxson, PhD, Dean of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, and a noted health economist.

Dr. Sandeep Wadhwa, Colorado Medicaid Director, spoke to peers and other senior Medicaid staffers during a session entitled Quality Assurance and Improvement: From Basics to Innovation at the second annual Medicaid Boot Camp, hosted by the National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD) and facilitated by the Center for Health Care Strategies.

Anthony D. Rodgers, Director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, spoke to peers and other senior Medicaid staffers during a session titled Medicaid Leadership: An Overview of the Key Elements at the second annual Medicaid Boot Camp, hosted by the National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD) and facilitated by the Center for Health Care Strategies.

Dr. Lynn Mitchell, Oklahoma Medicaid Director, spoke to peers and other senior Medicaid staffers during a session titled Value Based Purchasing: From Basics to Innovation at the second annual Medicaid Boot Camp, hosted by the National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD) and facilitated by the Center for Health Care Strategies.
