Medicaid Director
Theresa Eagleson is administrator of the Division of Medical Programs for Illinois’ Medicaid agency, the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) and holds the titles of state Medicaid director and SCHIP director. In this role, Ms. Eagleson is responsible for directing day-to-day operations as well as policy development and planning for the Illinois Medicaid, All Kids, and other health care programs serving about 2.7 million Illinoisans.
Ms. Eagleson has held various positions in state government since 1990, and has concentrated in the human services/ health care area for more than a decade. Her experience includes more than five years at the State’s Executive Budget Office, including three years as chief of the Bureau’s Medical and Child Welfare Division where she was responsible for the development, analysis, and execution of fiscal and policy issues for numerous state agencies, including HFS. She also served as a policy advisor on human services and Medicaid issues to a previous Governor. She has worked at the state Medicaid agency since 2000 and has been the Medicaid director since January 2007.
Ms. Eagleson earned a bachelor of arts in economics, as well as a master’s degree in business administration, from the University of Illinois.
