Tue, 06/02/2009 Dr. Sandeep Wadhwa, Colorado Medicaid Director, spoke to peers and other senior Medicaid staffers during a session entitled Quality Assurance and Improvement: From Basics to Innovation at the second annual Medicaid Boot Camp, hosted by the National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD) and facilitated by the Center for Health Care Strategies. His message delineatinghealth from health care noted that quality improvement activities do not necessarily result in improved health outcomes, and that states should use available data sources to focus on improving health outcomes not only through improvements in health care delivery, but by enhancing patient behavior.
